A look back

so here i am on a saturday night, looking through my past blog posts. to be perfectly honest i was looking for pictures of me while i was pregnant with Andy to compare to my current girth status...i know i know, i'm so vain, i probably think this song is about me.....

anyways

i decided to go WAY WAY back to the beginning of Moshertown, August 2005 - holy crap! 3 years ago! i think i've gone from many readers to maybe none? i press on none the less...

so back almost 3 yrs ago i posted PYOD - about picking your own destiny, i re-read this blog and found myself being amazed yet again. Could my heavenly Father really be asking me, what do you want for your life daughter?

it's so, not to sure which word i'm looking for, funny? but not really, how we get so caught up in life and the going ons of things around us that we miss out on so much of what God wants for us, or what He has for us for that matter!

i am going to try in these next 8 weeks, to focus on the quiet things in life, before madness enters mine, and try to get in on the action that God has and wants for me....

here is the blog that inspired this post-3 yr post.

PYOD

Someone once said to me that i was at a "pick your own destiny" stage.
i was a little confused at first because i thought, well. i'm a christian doesn't God know my destiny?i'm pretty sure God has it under control.
but then he kind of put it together for me....
when you're a kid, you ask dad for his advice on everything. when to pee, when to play, what to wear.you need guidance on every little detail. As you mature, you learn the basics on the little stuff and just look to dad on the big issues.
As you emerge in the "young adult" season of your life, your dad is thrilled when you make even the big decisions on your own (like marriage, job, house, car, etc.) and just include him in the process a bit....where you no longer say "God what do you want for my life..."But God says to you "Daughter, what do you want for your life..."

How crazy is it to think that way??? But God loves us so much that He daily asks us "what do you want for your life" - not "Here's what I'm going to make you do today" in some dictating way. i think all too often we forget that God has give us the freedom of choice and often get frustrated because we feel that we haven't been "told by God" when really we are lacking the ability to make a decision. We choose to go to this school or that city, we make a decision to pursue this career or that career, we choose who we marry and who we have as frieneds....bottom line is that God said " Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul & strength and love your neighbor as you love yourself." So with those 2 things we continue on our walk making choices with what has been put into our path. Sometimes we want so bad for "the will" of God in our lives that we forget about His commandments and then can't hear God saying "what do you want for your life..."

'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and with all your strength and mind' ; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
-Lk 10.27

Hi Tan,

I still check in from time to time :) Thanks for the reminder of how we have freedom in our walks with God and not slavery.

I shared my testimony last night and recounted the year after high school where I wanted so badly for God to just TELL ME what I was supposed to do and instead He led me to the realisation that He gave me my life and the best thing I can do is to live it to the fullest with Him at the centre.

We need a catch up soon, I'll try to give you a call in the near future!

Love J*
